The Principal Scientist, Pharmaceutical Services will serve as a project leader and will be responsible for directing, implementing and execution of drug abuse-deterrent studies and other pharmaceutical bioanalytical services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assume a leadership role for client’s sponsored pharmaceutical drug-abuse and bioanalytical projects and participate in initiatives as requested by senior leadership.
  • Lead and oversee experimental design and execution by the Pharmaceutical Services team of scientists according to preset timelines.
  • Follow study protocol and define the pharmaceutical study experiments including a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities need to successfully complete the project.
  • Determine the appropriate resources (time, money, equipment and talent) required to complete the study projects.
  • Review LC-MS and other instrument data and perform troubleshooting as needed.  Create, develop, optimize and validate methods for analysis of drugs and metabolites in biological samples or pharmaceutical formulations.
  • Review the study schedule with senior leadership and all other participating colleagues that will be affected by the study activities; revise and communicate the schedule as required.
  • Assume responsibility for direct reports including resource planning, recruitment, training, performance management, mentoring and development.
  • Monitor all expenditures including responsibility to order and stock supplies to support pharmaceutical studies according to inventory control program.
  • Develop a schedule for study completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
  • Collect, organize and prepare data, and communicate results in the form of Excel sheets, graphs, reports and power point presentations and participate in client and senior management meetings as needed.
  • Propose and investigate new concepts, technologies and test procedures that contribute to the client studies to support their respective goals, and which reflect expert knowledge.
  • Function as an acknowledged resource and technical leader within and outside of the department.
  • Comply with safety rules, regulatory guidelines, GLP and other regulations and quality assurance (QA) requirements.
  • Maintain proper records in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Skills/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Track record of productivity and leadership.
  • Good experience in LCMS method development and validation.
  • Strong attention to details and organization and oversight skills.
  • Multitasked with ability to stay focused while thriving in a dynamic environment.
  • Good computer Microsoft programs and mathematical skills.
  • Adventurous, high integrity and strong observation skill.
  • Good personal interaction skills.

Experience:

Minimum of two years’ experience in forensic, clinical research and or/ bioanalytical drug testing laboratory

Education:

Minimum of bachelor degree in life science field, advance degree is preferred
