Job Description

The Pharmacy Industry Relations Manager will oversee account responsibilities for manufactures and vendors and will play a large role in growing vendor relationships. This role has direct accountability for rebate contracting and negotiations with pharmaceutical companies. This position is responsible for the billing, collection, and reporting of all pharmaceutical company rebates. In this role, the Industry Relations Manager provides direct supervision to the SelectHealth Rebate Analysts. This position provides strong support to create and maintain multiple formularies across multiple lines of business.

Scope

The budget scope includes revenue of ~$40 million annually of rebates and potentially ~$100K to $400K in Health Outcomes research revenue. These positions also have significant contribution in the management of ~$800 million of pharmaceutical expense.

Job Essentials

Responsible for pharmacy contract negotiations and contract management for all SelectHealth lines of business including, commercial, Medicare Part D, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), Medicaid and geographic expansion efforts.

Works with the Pharmacy Team to promote formulary support, thereby increasing market share of preferred products.

Provides support and direction to all Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) activities and P&T subcommittee activities including contract opportunities, cost analysis, and savings potentials.

Responsible for the billing and collection of all pharmaceutical company rebates.

Responsible for the creation and maintenance of all financial reporting controls relative to the rebate processes.

Using claims data, wholesaler purchasing reports, and hospital system data, regularly evaluates information for additional contracting opportunities and cost savings.

Coordinates contracting efforts to coincide with Care Process Model activities. Supports physician information efforts to disseminate contracting information and help improve formulary support, appropriate generic usage and improve outcomes.

Fosters vendor relationships in order to coordinate and support internal pharmacoeconomic outcomes research.

Provides strategic direction for the pharmacy department.

Analyzes pharmacy claims and purchasing data to identify where the organization should explore new and revised contracting and promotional activities.

Coordinates activities with Supply Chain and Intermountain Healthcare Affiliated Services in their contracting efforts, when appropriate. Coordinates with geographic partners on pharmaceutical contracting to ensure the highest levels of integration and financial benefit.

Works closely with pharmacy management, hospitals and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Details: Full-time 40 hour position. This position is located at SelectHealth, 5381 Green Street, Murray, UT 84123.

Minimum Requirements

Pharm D. degree or Master’s degree from an accredited school of pharmacy (degree will be verified).

Current pharmacist license in the State of Utah.

Five years pharmacy practice experience in a managed care and hospital environment, which includes three years of pharmaceutical contract negotiations experience.

5 years Pharmacy Benefits management experience.

Physical Requirements

Manual dexterity, hearing/listening, seeing, speaking.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in business management or healthcare administration.

Strong health care systems orientation including: managed care, retail and hospital pharmacy, pharmacy contracting, pharmaceutical company contracting.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Personal computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets.
